About Me

Keeping this short and sweet for now, but my name is Andrea and I'm into miniatures. Dollhouses specifically and more historical recreation and accuracy than the toy/doll aspect.

I received my first dollhouse kit from my Granny as a freshman in college. It was the Greenleaf "Pierce". You can see it as "Victorian Farmhouse" in the Photo Gallery. My father and I worked on it non-stop four weeks during my Christmas break. After getting it about 80% complete, real life took over and it was not touched again until my twins became self sufficient 15 years later.

I love to recreate houses and roomboxes based upon historical accuracy and realism. A large portion of my time is spent at the library and online researching architecture.

One of the things that I really enjoy about miniatures is that it gives a creative person the ability to work in a lot of media. Woodworking - furniture, sculpting - clay foods and stonework, decorative painting, drafting, electrical work, lighting, paper art, mould making, and others.

My father and sister are also very talented and enjoy miniatures. My father is excellent with dollhouse construction. My sister is talented and excels at landscaping.

My sister and I love to attend miniature shows like Tom Bishop International in Chicago every year. It is my ideal to some day attend the IGMA Guild school.
